Gary Player – the most successful international golfer of all time with 163 career tournament wins worldwide – proudly represents The Cliffs Communities by wearing the logo on the back of his golf shirt in tournaments and appearances worldwide. Player has won 24 times on the PGA TOUR and posted victories in nine major championships. He has also recorded 19 victories on the Champions Tour, including three Senior British Opens, three Senior PGA titles and two US Senior Opens. He was voted South Africa’s Sportsman of the Century in 2000 and received the highly acclaimed Laureus World Sports Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003. With over 14 million air miles under his belt, Player has been trademarked The World’s Most Traveled Athlete™ and also represents the World Golf Hall of Fame as the International Ambassador of Golf. Gary Player became the first non-American golfer to win the Masters Tournament in 1961 and still holds the record for the most consecutive Masters cuts made with 23. Adding to the list of records, he has captured three British Open Championships in three decades – a feat yet to be matched.
While he remains active on the Champions Tour, Player is committed to his golf course design business and hosting charitable golf events around the world for underprivileged children’s education. In 2007 he will captain the Presidents Cup International Team for the third consecutive time when the event is played on international territory at Montreal Golf Club in Canada. On the business front, Player is designing a Signature Course at The Cliffs at Mountain Park – The Cliffs’ seventh and newest gated community. At a press event in April 2006, Gary Player announced that he will build his home at The Cliffs and also relocate the Gary Player Group Corporate Headquarters to the Village Center at Mountain Park in 2007.
